Ken Smith — Personal Injury Lawyer
Kenneth “Patricio” Smith is the Founder and Managing Partner of Smith Alston Darner & Lee, a bi-lingual (Spanish) law firm specializing in Serious Injury/ Wrongful Death Law and Immigration Law. Ken has practiced law in Arizona since 1985. Ken speaks fluent Spanish and is one of the most recognized and respected attorneys in the Hispanic Community in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2011, Ken was recognized by his peers as one of Arizona’s “Finest Attorneys”.
From 1976 to 1978, Ken served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Chile. In 1981, Ken received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Relations from Brigham Young University. In 1985, Ken graduated from the Pepperdine University School of Law with a Juris Doctor Degree. During his second year of law school, Ken also completed the Institute of International and Comparative Law in Mexico City.
Ken has served as a Pro Tem Judge for the Maricopa County Superior Court since 2005, assigned to the Justice Courts since 2005. In 2011, Ken received the “Friend of the Year Award” by the Hispanic Community. In 2012, Ken was appointed by the President of Chile to serve as the Honorary Consul for Chile in Arizona. He is currently serving as the Vice-Chairman of the Consular Corps of Arizona. Ken also provides expert political advice and arranges media contacts for local, state and federal candidates who are seeking the votes and financial support of the Hispanic Community. Over the last 25 years, Ken has been interviewed many times by local Spanish Radio Stations, Television as well as the local Hispanic newspapers.
Ken is married to Minyon Romney Smith. They have 3 children and 11 grandchildren!
John M. Alston — Personal Injury Lawyer
John Alston is a partner with Smith Alston Darner & Lee. Mr. Alston received a Bachelor of Science in Management from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. After which, he attended Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas, and then returned to Arizona to actively practice law.
Mr. Alston was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona in 2005. He is admitted to practice in the Arizona Supreme Court, Arizona Court of Appeals and the United States District Court of Arizona. Mr. Alston is a member of the Arizona Association for Justice/Arizona Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Alston served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Mr. Alston is a native of Arizona and is actively involved in his community. Mr. Alston served as a Town Councilman for the Town of Queen Creek, Arizona, from 2010 to 2012, and in the capacity of Judge Pro Tem for the Maricopa County Superior Court in 2012. Mr. Alston speaks Spanish and Portuguese. Mr. Alston is married and has three children.
Jonathan Darner — Personal Injury Lawyer
Jonathan “JD” Darner has been working with Smith Alston Darner & Lee for nearly a decade and handles various types of injury cases. Mr. Darner graduated from the prestigious Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. Mr. Darner served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Maracaibo, Venezuela. There, he learned Spanish and developed a love for the Latin people and their culture. In his free time, Mr. Darner loves camping, hiking, fishing, hunting and exploring the outdoors. Mr. Darner has 5 children and enjoys any time he can spend with them in the outdoors.
Spencer Lee — Immigration Attorney
Spencer is admitted to practice before the Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Arizona Federal District Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has successfully defended cases at the trial and appellate levels of the administrative immigration court system.
Kenneth Smith — Associate Attorney
Kenneth (“K.C.”) Smith is an associate attorney. He currently handles personal injury claims and previously handled immigration litigation. Mr. Smith is admitted to the State Bar of Arizona and New Mexico. Mr. Smith graduated in the top 1/3 of his class at Phoenix School of Law and also graduated cum laude from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Business and Spanish. Mr. Smith learned Spanish and a love for the Latin Community while serving a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Santiago, Chile. Mr. Smith is an Arizona native. In his free time, Mr. Smith enjoys nearly all outdoor activities including hunting, hiking, kayaking and camping. Mr. Smith also enjoys playing city softball when time allows and helping to coach his kids sporting activities. Mr. Smith is married and has 6 children.
